Confirmed Ajay Devgn Joins Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, to begin shoot today

Bollywood’s Singham Ajay Devgn has joined the cast of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. The movie features Alia Bhatt in the titular role. This is Devgn’s first movie with versatile actress Alia Bhatt. The Tanaji star will begin shooting for the movie from today(February 27). Devgn will be playing a pivotal role in the movie.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared the news on Twitter,

Gangubai Kathiawadi also celebrates the reunion of Devgn with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after 22 years. Their earlier outing was the iconic Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on S Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. The movie showcases the rise of a girl named Gangubai Kothewali, a brothel owner and matriarch from Kathiawad. It is all about her life journey and her rise to power. The teaser of the film was much appreciated. It has created massive buzz and much anticipation for the film.

The project marks the first collaboration between Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt. The movie is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios). The movie is scheduled to hit the big screens on July 30, 2021.
