COVID-19 Pandemic: ‘Mumbai Saga’ Hyderabad shoot cancelled, to be shot in Mumbai
The latest report states, Mumbai Saga's Hyderabad shoot has been called off after a spike in Covid-19 cases.
John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Mumbai Saga’ is one of the most anticipated films, the shooting of the film was to resume at Ramoji City in Hyderabad post lockdown, however, the cast has decided to call off Hyderabad’s shoot due to the spike in the number of Coronavirus cases and now the shooting will be done in Mumbai itself.

Talking about the same, Mumbai Saga’s director Sanjay Gupta told Mid-Day, “The country recorded 30,000 cases in a single day. Of the 14-day shoot that I had planned, we were to film at three indoor sets for 10 days. That would have posed a risk. We wanted to shoot in Hyderabad, but now it’s as unsafe as Mumbai. So, we might as well do it in our city.”
Further, speaking about their plans, “John, Emraan, and the rest of us were kicked about shooting [in Hyderabad], but we can’t do so by putting everyone’s health at risk. John was to finish the pending work on Mumbai Saga before moving on to his next. But with cases on the rise, we decided it would be best to take stock of the situation after a month. We will try to procure permission to shoot from August 15 and are eyeing three studios — Mehboob, Essel, and Film City, [Given the current situation] the dates are tentative,” said Gupta.
‘Mumbai Saga’ depicts the story of the changing face of Mumbai, It is based on events from the 80s and 90s that show how the long skyscrapers and malls replaced the mills in Mumbai and all that went into transforming Bombay into Mumbai.
The film also features, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Rohit Roy, and Amole Gupte among others in significant roles.
