Singer R Kelly charged with 11 new counts of criminal sexual assault

Singer and entertainer R. Kelly had been accused on 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse in February this year. He is in for some more now, the singer has been accused of 11 new charges in his sexual assault and sexual abuse case, including four new felonies. If convicted he can face up to 30 years in prison.

The new set of charges has been filed by Cook County prosecutors. They include four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual assault by force, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and three counts of aggravated sexual abuse against a victim aged 13 to 16. The four aggravated criminal sexual assault charges are classified as Class X felonies and carry a potential prison sentence of up to 30 years. Kelly is scheduled to appear in court on June 6th.

As reported by CNN, Kelly allegedly forced the victim to perform multiple sexual acts, including oral sex and penetration. Jerhonda Pace has accused R Kelly of the aggravated criminal sexual abuse. However, R Kelly has strongly denied these allegations and claimed innocence.

The report further added that, a crisis manager for Kelly, Darrell Johnson, said, “He still maintains his innocence and denies all accusations brought against him by Jerhonda Pace in any state moving forward. He looks forward to a swift and speedy trial,” reported CNN.

If convicted, Kelly can be sentenced to between six and 30 years in prison, according to Illinois law. However, Kelly’s attorney is confident that these new charges won’t change anything.

In February, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly abusing four women, three of whom were underage at the time. He has pleaded not guilty and since been released on $1 million bond.
