65-Year-Old Artist Shireen Mody Murdered At Home In Goa
According to the police, she was allegedly murdered by the gardener.
A 65-year-old Goa-based artist, Shireen Mody was found dead on Sunday. She was allegedly murdered by the gardener, Praful Jana at her place of residence. Jana too succumbed to his injuries caused by a fall while he was trying to run away from the scene of the crime.
Shireen had set up a studio in Arpora, a village located next to the Calangute beach and around 12 kilometres from the state capital Panaji. Mody was pronounced dead at the Goa Medical College where she was taken by her neighbours. Jana was taken to a district hospital in Mapusa. He was declared dead on arrival.
As reported by sources to News 18, The police added there were non-stop arguments between Shireen and Praful over the maintenance of her garden. The gardener used to stay within the same premises and neighbours also said that the gardener was an alcoholic. The neighbours spotted the gardener running away from the house after the murder.
The officer added that CCTV footage recorded at the residence of the deceased artist shows the gardener running away from the scene of the crime.
Shireen Mody was Parsi by birth, was born and brought up in Bombay, but had made Goa her home nearly four decades ago and gave up on her job in the advertising industry in London.
A case of murder has been registered at the Anjuna police station
