Representing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the Rajya Sabha, Subramanian Swamy is one of its kind. He is known for his controversial remarks and the fashion in which he makes his comments. In the latest addition Swami has advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have a medical check-up after he was hugged by Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the Monsoon Session of the Parliament on Friday.

Commenting on the recent ‘Rahul hugging Modi’ incident, Swami had said the Premier should be more careful. He also suggested that Rahul should have followed the protocol of not hugging Modi, as this is purely ‘unethical’ and relates with the safety of the Prime Minister.

Speaking with Indian Express, Swami expressed his dissatisfaction and had said, “Rahul should not have embraced Modi like that. What does it say about the safety of the prime minister inside the Parliament? This is absolutely unethical and such a behaviour should be discouraged so that it does not happen again.” Swami further added that if Rahul had felt emotional he could have shaken hands with Modi, reports the daily.

However, BJP leader and yesteryear Bollywood actor Shatrughan Sinha had said there is nothing wrong that Rahul did by hugging PM Modi. When asked by a reporter, he said, “It’s a good thing, when he (Rahul) hugged PM Modi, what is wrong in it? Even our PM hugs people whether they like it or not. He hugged Trump (US president Doland Trump), Barack Obama and even Israel’s president too. So if Rahul ji (Rahul Gandhi) hugged our own Prime Minister, in our own House, what’s wrong in it! It’s a good thing.”
