Among the other events, Srihari Nataraj finished third in the qualifying round with a timing of 56.57 seconds, to advance into the semi-final of the 100m backstroke.
Tababi Devi Thangjam reached the final of the women’s Judo event after beating Croatia’s Ana Viktorija Pulljz 10-0 in the semis. She had earlier defeated Yangchen Wangmo of Bhutan 10-0 in the round of 16 battle before outclassing Erza Muminoviq of Kosovo in the quarterfinals.
A contingent of 46 athletes across 13 sports will be representing India at the prestigious event. India had only won two medals – one silver and one bronze – at the last Youth Olympics in 2014 at Nanjing, China.
