Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked Union Minister Arun Jaitley for allowing PNB Scam accused Mehul Choksi to escape India after committing a fraud of Rs 35,000 crore. He also alleged that the BJP chief’s daughter receives lakhs of rupees from Choksi.
“Arun Jaitley’s daughter was on the payroll of thief Mehul Choksi. Meanwhile, her FM daddy sat on his file & allowed him to flee. She received money from ICICI a/c no: 12170500316 It’s sad that media has blacked out this story. The people of India won’t,” said Gandhi in a tweet.

Earlier, addressing a farmers’ rally in Raipur during his election campaigning there, Gandhi was quoted by The Indian Express as telling his audience that “You must have heard about Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi, who had stolen Rs 35,000 crore of the country. Choksi deposited lakhs of rupees in the bank account of FM Arun Jaitley’s daughter.”
He also added that his party held a press conference in Delhi to give out the bank ‘details’ of Jaitley’s daughter. “But unfortunately none of the major media houses carried this story. It is sad because the work of the media is to bring out the truth,” said the Congress chief as reported by the daily.

He also mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal and said that the Rafale jets were bought at a higher price than those set by the previous UPA Government and given to a company that had not even made a paper plane before. “But after becoming prime minister, Narendra Modi ji goes to France along with Anil Ambani and purchased each Rafale jets at Rs. 1600 crore per piece.”
The Congress chief stated that the previous UPA government had consented to an agreement that stated that the Bengaluru-base HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) will manufacture the fighter jets. Since this is an experienced company it would have ensured safe technology transfer and also jobs to local youths.
But Modi ji himself snatched the contract from HAL and allotted it to Anil Ambani’s company which was newly-formed and had no experience in manufacturing aeroplanes. Ambani would not have even made a plane of paper.”
Gandhi is currently campaigning at Chhattisgarh for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
